The unstable psyche and poverty of Rodion Raskolnikov (the main character in Crime and Punishment) fit the principles of Maison Margiela—breaking from the usual proportions, using a mixture of genres, and making clothes from secondary materials. Martin Margiela often chooses non-professional models, which connects with one of Dostoevsky’s favorite themes of the "little man”.
Alexander McQueen, as a symbol of love for the shocking and provocative, is a good choice for the rule-breaking Anna Karenina.
Jane Eyre was never about flashy clothes, so a frock from Stella McCartney highlights her inner beauty.

“Baby was sent to Earth in redemption for his mother, Pussy, and all the crummy deeds she had done. He was absolutely perfect: a desirable companion, half cat, half dog. There was certain goodness in him. Baby made sure that he spread his love evenly, and he tried to hide the fact that he favored our mother. He would watch over my sister and me as we fell asleep, and only then would he find his way to my mother’s bed.”

My own cat Murka, with whom I have long and fruitful but complicated relationship, inspired this comic strip. I should admit I am also guilty of having a little cemetery for her kills. However, this story is a fiction, as I’m not my cat’s partner in crime!
